Not too much changed from his original design, just added some armor plating and a blade.

I wonder why Eggman didn't activate Omega to kill Sonic in the first place since he's pretty much indestructible.

Funny enough, Eggman DID activate Omega to kill Sonic in the Archie comics... and Omega immediately went rogue. Eggman's response?

"You can't turn traitor already! You haven't even been active for 24 hours yet!"
